PREP PROFILES Numbers are certainly a bit tight, and getting tighter, in Michigan's 2016 class, but that hasn't kept the Wolverines out of Orlando (Fla.) Oak Ridge inside linebacker Jona‑ than Jones' top three. U‑M is joined by Notre Dame and Duke at the top of the list for Jones. T h e 6 ‑ 0 , 207‑pounder has been to all three of his top schools and is having a hard time choos‑ ing one. " I t ' s D u k e , " J o n e s s a i d o f the Blue Devils. "When I went up there in the summer I asked some of the players how they handled everything with a rigorous course load, and they admitted that they weren't college ready but said they do a good job there of getting you used to it. … "With Notre Dame, I went out there for the visit, they preached that they need linebackers the whole time. That's a topic and subject that they have really hit on, and that's what Coach [Mike] Elston said again when he checked in on me. "I have been talking a lot with Coach [and Michigan defensive coordinator D.J.] Durkin — he's a great guy. Their defense is really balling out right now, which I'm not too surprised about. He's got a wealth of knowledge, and he likes to talk business. I watched some of that Michigan State game, and dudes can't run the ball against them." Jones is a very intelligent young man making all three schools a good choice academi‑ cally. He's also big on tradition a n d w i n n i n g , perhaps giving M i c h i g a n a n d N o t re D a m e a slight edge over Duke. Jones has s p e n t t i m e i n both South Bend and Ann Arbor in the past and admits that the temptation to com‑ mit was strong at both universities. "There was most definitely temp‑ tation," he admitted. "The coaches ask, 'How are you feeling? What do you feel about a commitment?' "You do think about it, especially after you met with the players. It just wouldn't be a wise choice for me to not look at the other schools and then make my decision." The three‑star linebacker took an official visit to South Bend Sept. 25 and plans to officially check out Ann Arbor Dec. 11. He plans to see Duke sometime in January. Jones was a second‑team 7A all‑ state pick as a junior after recording 115 tackles and seven sacks. — Brandon Brown U-M Is In Top Three For Sunshine State LB ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Oak Ridge Orlando, Fla.
