  MICHIGAN IN THE PROS BY CHRIS BALAS F ormer Michigan center Dylan Larkin is proving he belongs in the world's best hockey league. The Detroit Red Wings rookie, only 19 years old, became the first teenager to appear in the Red Wings' season- opening lineup in 25 years when he took the ice against Toronto Oct. 9. The last player to do that was Mike Sillinger, who started the 1990-91 sea- son with the Red Wings. "I don't think the philosophy has changed in that we want to make sure that guys are over-ready when they get to the [NHL] level," Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill told The Edmonton Sun. "I don't think that's changed from [general man- ager] Ken Holland's take. But we looked at Dylan and said, 'He makes us better.' "One of the reasons he's allowed to step in right away and play is be- cause he has a great 200-foot game.
