The Wolfpacker

42 ■ THE WOLFPACKER WHERE ARE THEY NOW? They still occasionally run into their for- mer coach and enjoy the opportunity to re- live their time together with the Wolfpack. In the last year, Dave sat with Holtz at a ban- quet in Orlando, and Don introduced him at a Christian men's group convention in Florida. Dave married his wife, Anna, in 1995, and they have three children together, as well as two children from her previous marriage. Don and his wife, Elaine, have been married for 39 years. In 2013, they represented NC State at the ACC's Night of Legends during the league's football championship weekend, becoming the first duo from the same school to be honored since the league be- gan recognizing its top players from the past in 2005. For years, they have signed that Sports Illustrated cover. Sometimes, one would get it in the mail and bring it to work, where they would autograph it side-by- side. It was pretty easy when they worked in the same office and lived in the same neighborhood. It's a little more difficult now that they live three states apart. "We don't get as many requests for it as we used to — maybe three or four a year," Dave said. "There's no ques- tion we get asked less and less as time goes by, but we've signed an awful lot of them." And you know what? Those signatures are almost identical. ■ Tim Peeler is a regular contributor to The Wolfpacker and can be reached at tmpeeler@ncsu.edu.
