MICHIGAN BASKETBALL BASKETBALL REWIND: NOV. 17-DEC. 10 Overall Record: 6-3 Best Win — 66-59 over North Carolina State, Dec. 1: Michigan didn't have it easy in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, facing a respectable North Carolina State crew led by Anthony "Cat" Barber. Compounding the Wolverines' challenge was the fact that they had to hit the road for the contest, right after returning from CARIS LEVERT'S LIST OF POTENTIAL AWARDS KEEPS GROWING Michigan senior guard Caris Le- Vert has added two more nomina- tions to his growing list of them in early December. On Dec. 3, he earned his way onto the watch list for the Atlanta Tipoff Club Naismith Trophy, presented annually to college basket- ball's Player of the Year. LeVert made the watch list for the Oscar Robertson Trophy a day earlier, and the attention on the U-M guard continues to grow. He earlier made the Preseason All-Big Ten squad and the John R. Wooden Award watch list, along with the watch list for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's Jerry West Award, going to the top shooting guard in college basketball. The U.S. Basketball Writ- ers Association (USBWA) presents the Oscar Robertson Trophy to its na- tional Player of the Year. Through nine games, LeVert led the team in scoring (17.7 points per game), rebounding (5.0 per contest) and assists (3.9 per game). The Naismith Trophy has 50 on the watch list, including the following Big Ten players: Indiana's Yogi Ferrell, Purdue's A.J. Hammons and Caleb Swanigan, Maryland's Melo Trimble, Wisconsin's Nigel Hayes, Michigan State's Denzel Valentine and LeVert. The Naismith Trophy watch list pares down to a Midseason 30 on Feb. 11, then to 10 semifinalists on March 2. Four finalists are named on March 20, and the winner on April 3. During U-M's 6-3 start, senior guard Caris LeVert led the team in scoring (17.7 points per game), rebounding (5.0 per game) and assists (3.9 per game). PHOTO BY PER KJELDSEN
