PREP PROFILES Notre Dame already holds one pledge from a top junior prospect in Georgia with Norcross High four-star defensive end Robert Beal committed to the class, and appears to be eyeing a prospect that could eventually become the second. Notre Dame de- fensive coordinator Brian VanGorder was at Roswell (Ga.) High the first week of December to check up on a num- ber of underclass- men, and one of them was Rivals100 cornerback LeAn- thony Williams. "I didn't get a chance to really talk with them, but my coach told me that they really like my film and that they'll be back soon," Wil- liams said when asked about the Irish. While Williams, who claims more than 25 scholarship offers, doesn't hold a bid from Notre Dame, he wasn't afraid to admit that one might shake up his list of top schools. "An offer from them would really switch up the recruiting process," he said. "Notre Dame has a great program, and I think just going up there and be- ing able to see what they have to offer would be just a great experience." Williams took unofficial visits to Geor- gia, Alabama and Clemson this past sea- son. He said that for a while he thought he was destined to play football in the Southeastern Conference or the Atlantic Coast Conference, but staff turnover at certain schools has him thinking oth- erwise. "Since last year, I was so focused on playing foot- ball close to home, and now I feel that I could play foot- ball anywhere in the country," Wil- liams said. "The big coaching switch with Alabama and Georgia [Crimson Tide defensive co- ordinator Kirby Smart is taking over the Bulldogs program after the dismissal of former head coach Mark Richt] has been tough." Clemson is still at the top of his list, with LSU, Georgia, Virginia Tech and Kentucky also in the running. While Notre Dame didn't make his list of favorites, he said that he's more than just open to the Irish. "An offer would mean a lot," Wil- liams said.
