WOMEN'S BASKETBALL yet, and the nation's top field goal shooter last year was only three of 11 against the Beavers while hurrying a few looks. She also does not yet really possess a mid-range shooting threat, either. However, her presence in the lineup is a huge relief because of the range and athleticism she provides down low. With junior forward Taya Reimer no longer on the team and 6-2 sopho- more forward Kathryn Westbeld a little more effective in the high post, Turn- er's health is pivotal to Notre Dame's championship hopes. "We haven't had time to jell as a start- ing unit," McGraw said. "When you throw two freshmen in with [Turner], it has been a little tougher for us to jell. It's going to take until January or February before this team really jells because we just have so many moving parts. "We have so many good players, we have seven people that can start. We're playing eight and nine. … We've got a lot of people we're trying to work in and it's hard to jell when you have that many people. "I'm a puzzle maker. I love the chal- lenge. I enjoy trying to put those pieces together. I don't think I did a particu- larly good job today, but I'm going to learn from that." "We had a pretty good preseason considering everything that was hap- pening," said typically understated fifth-year senior guard Madison Cable, who is the team's leading scorer at 15.8 points per game. Perhaps most impressive was that even without Turner and Reimer in the lineup, the Irish held their own on the road in a 91-81 loss to the Connecticut dynasty. The Irish opened ACC play Dec. 30 with an 85-76 win over Georgia Tech. 2015-16 NOTRE DAME WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE Date Opponent (TV) Result/Time (ET) Nov. 7 Wayne State* W, 101-52 Nov. 15 Bucknell W, 85-54 Nov. 18 Toledo W, 74-39 Nov. 21 at South Dakota State W, 75-64 Nov. 23 at Valparaiso W, 110-54 Nov. 27 vs. Denver^ W, 94-52 Nov. 28 vs. UCLA^ W, 92-84 (OT) Dec. 2 Ohio State W, 75-72 Dec. 5 at Connecticut L, 91-81 Dec. 9 DePaul W, 95-90 Dec. 12 at TCU W, 88-71 Dec. 21 at Saint Joseph's W, 91-55 Dec. 28 Oregon State W, 62-61 Dec. 30 Georgia Tech W, 85-76 Jan. 3 at Pittsburgh (RSN) 3 p.m. Jan. 7 at Virginia 7 p.m. Jan. 10 North Carolina (ESPN2) 1 p.m. Jan. 14 at Boston College 7 p.m. Jan. 18 Tennessee (ESPN2) 7 p.m. Jan. 21 Syracuse (ESPN3) 7 p.m. Jan. 24 Virginia Tech 1 p.m. Jan. 28 at Georgia Tech (RSN) 7 p.m. Feb. 1 at Duke (ESPN2) 6 p.m. Feb. 4 NC State (ESPN3) 7 p.m. Feb. 7 at Louisville (ESPN/2) 2/4 p.m. Feb. 14 Miami (RSN) 1 p.m. Feb. 18 at Wake Forest 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at Florida State (ESPN2) 7 p.m. Feb. 25 Clemson 7 p.m. Feb. 27 Boston College 1 p.m. March 2-6 ACC Tournament$ TBD * Exhibition; ^ Junkanoo Jam at Freeport, Bahamas; FSN — FOX Sports Net; RSN — ACC Regional Sports Network; $ at Greensboro, N.C.
