MICHIGAN RECRUITING mit during the course of the 2016 class. Prior to Reese and Viramontes changing course, Southfield (Mich.) High running back Matt Falcon opted to switch his pledge to Western Mich- igan after U-M told him that while he could enroll on a full scholarship it believed his football days to be over due to recurring knee injuries. U-M also cut ties with Elkton (Md.) Eastern Christian Academy linebacker Dele' Harding and Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne quarterback Messiah deWeaver, who committed to Brady Hoke's coaching staff but were not pursued by the Harbaugh administration. It's possible that more decommit- ments occur before National Sign- ing Day. At least three U-M pledges (Indiana athlete Kiante Enis, Florida defensive end Rashad Weaver and Tennessee wide receiver Nate John- son) have taken or plan to take of- ficial visits to other programs. JANUARY OFFICIAL VISITS In the weeks prior to National Signing Day, there were some limita- tions between college coaches and prospective student-athletes. There was a dead period from Dec. 13, 2015, to Jan. 13, 2016, during which college coaches could not visit or call prospects. Official visits were then allowed from Jan. 13-31, followed by another short dead period from Feb. 1-4. Michigan has hosted — or will host — a number of top recruits on official visits in the stretch run before Na- tional Signing Day on Feb. 3. Jan. 15 Visitors • Nixa (Mo.) R2 tight end Chase Al- len — Three-star prospect and No. 11 player in Missouri • Wayne (N.J.) DePaul Catholic defen- sive lineman Michael Dwumfour — Three-star recruit and No. 24 player in New Jersey • Pembroke Pines (Fla.) Flanagan line- backer Devin Gil — Commit and three- star talent • McKeesport (Pa.) athlete Khaleke Hudson —Three -star prospect and No. 14 player in Pennsylvania • Pembroke Pines (Fla.) Flanagan safety Josh Metellus — Commit, three- star recruit and No. 94 player in Florida • Rockford (Mich.) kicker Quinn Nor- din — Three-star talent, No. 22 player in Michigan and No. 1 kicker in the country • Detroit Cass Tech offensive lineman Wide receiver Eddie McDoom of Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange scheduled an official visit to U-M after he decommitted from Oregon, and he is now believed to be favoring the Wolverines. PHOTO COURTESY RIVALS.COM
