Women's basketball head coach Muffet McGraw achieved her 800th career victory with
a 65‑55 win at Pitt Jan. 3, becoming only the 10th college basketball coach in history, male
or female, to reach that standard. Her first 88 victories came at Lehigh before accepting the
Notre Dame position in 1987. McGraw also joined UConn's Geno Auriemma, Tennessee's
Pat Summitt, Duke's Mike Krzyzewski and North Carolina's Dean Smith as the only coaches
in Division I men's or women's history to have 800 wins, seven Final Four trips and five
championship game appearances.
