2016 RECRUITING ISSUE now, and I could be comfortable with another 15 or 20 pounds." Four years ago, Aquinas Institute head coach Chris Battaglia believed Jarron would settle in better on de- fense. With Jamir, it's a little more open-ended. "A lot will depend how he de- velops in a college weight program and scheme," Battaglia said. "In a 3-4 alignment where he is a stand- up outside linebacker over the tight end, that would fit him perfectly. "If it's a 4-3, then I see him more as a rush end." A consensus three-star recruit, the younger Jones won't arrive with quite the fanfare as his four-star brother, who was a fringe top-100 player com- ing out of Aquinas but needed to de- velop a more mature approach to com- petition. Jarron noted how his younger brother is proficient at maximizing his skill set with a good work ethic. "I didn't expect this to happen," the proud older brother said in Decem- ber. "He's a skill player and he's not very fast. … He had a better senior year coming out of high school, so I give him a lot of credit. I told him one thing: He doesn't match my basketball résumé. "He's a strong kid. He's smart. That's the one thing about him — he doesn't give up on himself." Jamir admits that it's not been easy getting out of Jarron's huge shadow, but it has also driven him, including academically. "I feel like I've made a mark for my- self in high school," he said. "Now I have to make another mark at Notre Dame." ✦
