Recruiter of record: Tight ends/fullbacks coach and special teams coordinator Eddie Faulkner. Dave Doeren on McCloud: "He's an excellent student and a multi-sport guy that played both sides of the ball and has length and ball skills." Scouting report: Good height and length for a potential cornerback … Has good athleticism … Could project either as a corner or safety in col - lege, but preference is to play cornerback. 2016 projection: McCloud joins a crowded group of freshmen at the cornerback position look- ing to make a quick impact since there is a lack of depth and experience there. McCloud is like fellow signee JJ Givens in that he needs to get bigger and stronger first. Garrett Hooker LINEBACKER High Point (N.C.) Recruiter of record: Safeties coach and co-special teams coordinator Clayton White. Dave Doeren on Hooker: "He's a physical linebacker, strong and a very good tackler. He had an unfortunate injury his senior year when he was averaging 22 tackles per game, but broke his foot and had to miss part of his senior year. He's one of the most improved guys, I'd say, from his sophomore summer camp to his junior summer camp. He really worked hard, changed his body and has great instincts." Scouting report: Instinctive linebacker with a nose for the football … Better in run defense than in coverage … Moves fairly well especially after dieting following his junior season to trim down 15 pounds, knocking two-tenths off his previous year's 40-yard dash time at NC State. 2016 projection: Hooker should be healthy enough to participate in spring drills. The depth chart is fairly deep at linebacker, with starters Airius Moore, a rising junior, and Jerod Fernandez, a rising redshirt junior, plus key reserve Riley Nicholson, a rising sophomore, all returning. Hooker may be a strong redshirt candidate. Tim Kidd-Glass SAFETY Danville (Va.) Stats: As a senior, made three interceptions on defense … On offense, caught 17 passes for 343 yards and four touchdowns while also notching three rushing scores. Ratings: Ranked by Rivals.com as a three-star prospect and the No. 22 recruit in Vir- ginia … Rated by Scout.com as a three-star recruit and the No. 75 safety in the country … Listed by247Sports as a three-star talent, the No. 32 prospect in Virginia and the No. 69 safety in nationally … Tabbed by ESPN as a three-star recruit, the No. 52 player in Virginia and the No. 123 safety in the country … Regarded as the No. 25 senior in Virginia by The Roanoke Times. Recruiter of record: Cornerbacks coach George Barlow. Dave Doeren on Kidd-Glass: "He's a versatile guy. You can see him playing both receiver and safety [in high school], and he has played some at the nickel position as well. He's from a really good football program and a physi- cal guy." Scouting report: Good-sized safety who could also be a candidate to play the nickel position in the Pack's 4-2-5 alignment … Physical, sound tackler … An average athlete. 2016 projection: There will be a lot of competition at the safety position throughout spring and preseason camp, and Glass first has to find where he fits best in the defense. He is versatile enough to play both safety spots or the nickel.
