Recruiter of record: Defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Dave Huxtable. Dave Doeren on Miller: "He came up here a couple of summers ago for camp and was pretty raw — he was playing receiver, tight end, outside linebacker, safety. … I believe that was Brock's sophomore year, and we put him out there. He was a really good athlete. Brock worked really hard and got so much better. Last year, he was phenomenal." Scouting report: A pass-rushing playmaker that played outside linebacker in John Carroll's 3-4 unit … Good athlete for the position … Has the potential to grow into a defensive end, but his preference is to play linebacker. 2016 projection: The depth at linebacker provides stiff competition for a true freshman to come in and make an impact. However, Miller could be the type of playmaker that the Pack has lacked at the position over the past few years ever since the trio of Nate Irving, Audie Cole and Terrell Manning left for their respective NFL careers. If Miller proves to be that type of playmaker, he would be hard to keep off the field. Dylan Parham QUARTERBACK Southeast Raleigh High • 6-4, 210 pounds Measurables: At the Nike Opening Regional in Wash- ington, D.C., was laser timed at 4.81 seconds in the 40- yard dash … Ran the 20-yard pro agility shuttle in 4.55 seconds, threw the power ball 34 feet and had a 30.5-inch vertical leap … Overall Nike Football Rating (an overall measure of athletic ability) score was 77.73. Recruiter of record: Former quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator Matt Canada. Dave Doeren on Parham: "He's a big-bodied kid, built like [redshirt sophomore quarterback] Jalan Mc- Clendon body-type wise, has good length and can run. He's already here developing, learning and spending time with offensive coordinator Eliah Drinkwitz. … He has really good touch, but also arm strength. … It's going to be fun to see him develop in our program." Scouting report: Physically gifted prospect with pro- totype size and athleticism for the quarterback position … Strong arm yet throws with nice touch, but needs to improve his accuracy … Still a relative newcomer to the quarterback position, but flashes some raw natural abilities and looks to have the "it" factor. 2016 projection: With two-year starter Jacoby Bris- sett gone, rising redshirt sophomore Jalan McClendon and rising redshirt freshman Jakobi Meyers are the leading con- tenders to battle for the starting job. Parham got into the mix by enrolling early, but he will need to greatly impress because the natural inclination would be to redshirt him. Thaddeus Moss TIGHT END Charlotte Mallard Creek High • 6-4, 247 pounds Stats: As a senior, notched 55 catches for 831 yards and 13 touchdowns. Ratings: Listed by Rivals.com as a four-star prospect, the No. 7 recruit in North Carolina, and the No. 6 tight end and No. 123 overall player in the nation … Ranked by Scout.com as a three-star talent and the No. 18 tight end in the country … Rated by 247Sports as a three-star recruit, the No. 41 player in North Carolina and the No. 44 tight end nationally … Regarded by ESPN as a four-star talent, the No. 12 senior in North Carolina and the No. 5 tight end in the country … Tabbed as the No. 8 prospect in the state by The Fayetteville Observer … Ranked as the No. 14 player in North Carolina by The Charlotte Observer. Recruiter of record: Tight ends/fullbacks coach and special teams coordinator Eddie Faulkner. Dave Doeren on Moss: "Obviously, coming from his pedigree he knows a lot about football, but it's all been the way he works and what he wants for his life and his career. I'm real excited about the way he handled the process, how mature he was throughout it and the relationship that Coach Faulk and him established." Scouting report: Good-sized tight end with long arms … Plays with an edge on the field and shows off im - pressive hands, especially in the red zone on fade routes and jump balls … May have potential to be a defensive lineman, too. 2016 projection: Due to the shortage of tight ends, Moss may be one of the surer bets to play as a true fresh- man. He has the requisite size to play quickly, and he played at a high school that has developed a reputation for producing good college football players, including NC State rising junior All-ACC fullback/tight end Jaylen Samuels.
