otre Dame followed up a suc-
cessful 2015 season on the field
with a strong effort on the re-
cruiting trail. The Irish inked
23 recruits from 11 different states,
plus one from Canada, giving it the
12th-best class in the country accord-
ing to Rivals.
It was the fourth straight quality
class for Notre Dame, putting the Irish
one step closer to having a champion-
ship roster.
Notre Dame's 2016 recruiting class
lacks some of the elite, top-end talent
compared to previous classes, but it
is arguably the deepest class the Irish
have signed under head coach Brian
Kelly. Below is a ranking of Notre
Dame's 2016 signees from 1-23:
1. LIAM EICHENBERG, OL
Cleveland St. Ignatius
Landing elite offensive linemen —
especially tackles — was a priority for
this class, and picking up Eichenberg
gave Notre Dame one of the nation's
