NEWS & NOTES The commotion started with a video posted March 1 from the Twitter account of Penn State wideouts coach Josh Gattis. Shot in portrait orientation from a cellphone camera in the Lasch Building weight room, the 19-second video focuses on sophomore running back Saquon Barkley as he power cleans 390 pounds, tying a program record held by recently graduated defensive tackle Anthony Zettel. Teammates celebrate as the mammoth barbell bounces several feet off the floor when he drops it following his successful attempt. In the tweet that accompanies the video, Gattis uses the hashtags #BeastMode and #FreakShow and de- scribes him as "the best RB in the country. … Show me anyone who can do this!" The video went viral, turning up, among other places, on the NCAA's official website, where writer Tyler Greenawalt noted admiringly that Barkley "looks more than ready for the season to F O O T B A L L Barkley impresses in workouts | LION IN WINTER Barkley tied a program record with his 390-pound power clean.
