WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (17‑13 OVERALL, 9‑9 BIG TEN) After beginning the season 7-0, Michigan went just 10-13 … The Wol- verines are 0-6 on the season against ranked opponents … U-M lost 97-85 to Iowa in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament March 3 in India- napolis … Michigan ranked fourth in the conference in scoring at 78.6 points per game, but was dead last in opponent field goal percentage (44.0) … Sophomore guard Katelynn Flaherty set a Michigan single-season scoring record, leading the Wolver- ines and ranking third in the confer- ence with 22.6 points per game … Rookie center Hallie Thome earned All-Freshman and honorable men- tion All-Big Ten honors, ranking sec- ond in the conference with a field goal percentage of 63.9 … Michigan qualified for the postseason for the seventh straight year and will open play in the WNIT by hosting Wright State March 16 … A victory would pit them against the winner of Buck- nell versus Akron. MEN'S GYMNASTICS (3‑9 OVERALL, 0‑6 BIG TEN) No. 11 Michigan has improved in the mid-portion of its season, includ- ing an impressive first-place team finish in San Juan, Puerto Rico, over No. 17 Temple and the Puerto Rico National Team March 5 … The Wol- verines captured five individual and team event titles in San Juan, includ- ing a one-two finish on rings from freshman Anthony McCallum (14.55) and senior Colin Mahar (same score with lower difficulty), and a sweep of the top four spots on vault led by freshman Emyre Cole (15.15), ju- nior Anthony Stefanelli (15.15), and fifth-year senior Michael Strathern (15.05) and sophomore Dmitri Bela- novski (14.70) … Michigan will head to Big Ten Championships April 1-2 in Columbus, Ohio, in the hopes of earning a bid to the NCAA Champi- onships two weeks later at the same location. WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS (11‑6 OVERALL, 6‑3 BIG TEN) The sixth-ranked Wolverines stood as the top-ranked team in the Big Ten with an average overall team score of 196.903 … U-M suffered a close defeat at No. 1 Oklahoma, falling to the Sooners 198.075-197.275 … Ju- nior Nicole Artz was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week March 7 for her performance against No. 6 Utah March 4. Artz recorded a career-best 39.725 in the all-around that stands as the best Wolverine score since 2004
