PREP PROFILES Michigan will be a player for Tampa Bay Tech 2017 wide receiver Daquon Green, despite his com- mitment to the home-state Florida Gators. The 6-1, 192-pounder chose UF before he had the chance to take an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor and would like to rec- tify that situation. "Michigan, I've talked to them, but it hasn't been recently," Green explained in early March. "If I could still try to get the visit up there, I w o u l d t a k e i t . They still check up on me sometimes. "They're just trying to get to know what I'm doing and how I'm doing. I'll probably still talk to them and see what it is." Green's initial interest in U-M began with the satellite camp tour that the Wolverines' coaching staff took last summer. They were guest coaches at camps coast to coast, and one right in Green's hometown gave him the opportunity to get to know head coach Jim Harbaugh and wide receivers coach Jedd Fisch. "I have some experience with Coach Jim Harbaugh at the USF camp they came down for," he ex- plained. "That's when they offered. I was talking to their receiver coach [Fisch], and he's a pretty good guy. "It was real good being coached by them [at that camp]. The camp was mostly by the Michigan coaches, even though the coaches were there from USF. I was there with Coach Harbaugh, and that was real cool." It's easy to see what the Wolver- ines liked about Green — and what has him ranked as the No. 35 ris- ing senior in the Sunshine State, and the No. 30 w i d e o u t a n d No. 193 overall prospect nation- ally. He doesn't have any single physical attribute that gives him an advantage over other receivers, but is well rounded. "He creates separation with a nice burst, and while he doesn't have great top-end speed, his accelera- tion makes him lethal," Rivals.com Southeast recruiting analyst Rob Cassidy said. "The fact that he al- ready boasts a college-ready body doesn't hurt his worth as a prospect, either." Green used that skill set to put to- gether a solid junior year, part of what has schools maintaining pur- suit despite his Gators pledge. He caught 31 passes for 734 yards (23.7 yards per grab) with 10 touchdowns. A trip this fall to Ann Arbor could help the Wolverines remain in the hunt come next February. — Tim Sullivan Florida Commit Is Still Watching Wolverines ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Tampa Bay Technical Tampa, Fla.
