His men's team captured its sixth straight Big Ten title Feb. 27 inside the Boilermaker Aquatic Center, and since taking over the women's team four seasons ago he's helped them reach heights not seen in a long time. The ladies also won a Big Ten championship ā€” the program's first since 2004 ā€” Feb. 20 at Canham Natatorium in Ann Arbor. Both squads are celebrating con- ference titles for the first time in the same season since 1997, but Bottom said the two shouldn't be lumped together. "Well, we won the women's Big Ten championship for swimming and diving and then we won the men's swimming and diving cham- pionship," he said. "I'm not sure you can really put them together because they are two different meets with a lot of different energy. You have to separate them with a good gap when you say it."
