"He's really matured," Bakich said. "He's done a terrific job mentally of slowing the game down. He has a ton of natural leadership abilities and they've really come through this year. He's done a great job of taking charge of the team behind the plate. He's a general back there. "He's a big personality in the locker room and is just a guy that has really become a great leader, great teammate and a great player to have around." With things clicking, players play‑ ing well and coaches continuing to teach and push for improvement, Bakich is content — but not satisfied. "A lot of our confidence comes from our preparation and our train‑ ing," he stated. "That's one area that we take very seriously and that's where I'd say these guys benefit the most. Our training sessions are more difficult than the actual games. "I think confidence has to be high. The only way to play this game is with high confidence. I don't see any reason why we wouldn't feel that way."
