PREP PROFILES A Californian Is The Top Tight End On Michigan's Board Michigan will always emphasize the tight end position under Jim Har‑ baugh. Keeping that position stocked is a priority on the recruiting trail. Fortunately, top prospects are taking note of the Wolverines' emphasis. One such player is Roseville (Calif.) High four‑star Jimmy Jaggers, who has already visited Ann Arbor twice. "It means a lot to me," Jaggers said of holding a Michigan offer. "It's the 'Tight End U' right now. It's a big consid‑ eration to play tight end there, and to have the coaches that think you can play tight end there. It's a really cool experience. "It's out in the open that Coach Harbaugh wins wherever he goes, and that he knows how to use his guys. He's really focused on his tight ends there, and that's definitely some‑ thing that they used in their recruiting process." The 6‑4, 230‑pounder caught just 12 passes for 123 yards (10.2 per recep‑ tion) and a touchdown as a junior, but is aware that the Wolverines' offense is far more tight end‑friendly than that he runs in high school. That's one big appeal to wearing the winged helmet. So too is the positive vibe he's already built in his trips to campus. "The atmosphere was awesome," he explained. "We were there for the 250th consecutive game over 100,000. That much support, that's just insane. To be able to see that is awesome. "Then as far as keeping a close eye on the tight end, I don't think they came out in a for‑ mation without a tight end. It's al‑ ways cool to see: that they use your position." Thanks to his combination of size and receiving acumen, he could be a perfect fit for Michigan. "Jaggers is a big, hulking tight end who runs well for someone so big," Rivals.com West recruiting analyst Adam Gorney said. "He has good hands as well. Linebackers hang all over him trying to gain some advan‑ tage, but Jaggers still gets through his routes and catches a lot of passes. "He'll never be a speed demon down the field, but he'll move the chains." Jaggers plans to take his time in the recruiting process after initially con‑ sidering a commitment prior to his senior year. With an official visit ten‑ tatively slated for the fall, Michigan has a great chance to land him down the road. — Tim Sullivan ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Roseville Roseville, Calif.
