"Hutch" is in year 32 at Michigan and is the winningest coach — male or female — in Michi‑ gan athletics' history. Her Wolver‑ ines boasted a 27‑3 record and were ranked No. 1 in the nation on April 5, but the veteran mentor doesn't care much about that right now. "My feeling is that it's April," Hutchins said. "It doesn't matter what we're ranked right now. We haven't accomplished anything yet. "Our goal is to get to the College World Series and regardless of where we're ranked we're going to have to earn our way there. That's the men‑ tality I have, and that's the mentality that I want my team to have. That'll be my message moving forward. "You hope that players are playing confidently every game.
