There aren't many linebackers
these days that play like David Ad-
ams. Not anymore. At least that's
what Pittsburgh Central Catholic
head coach Terry Totten thinks.
Totten, who grew up in the Steel
City and can vividly remember back
in the late '70s when Notre Dame
used to get whomever it wanted
from wherever it wanted in West-
ern Pennsylvania, said that Adams
isn't your typical linebacker. In an era
where spread offenses are the norm
and speed dominates both the col-
lege and professional level, Totten
said that Adams is a blast from the
past.
"David is old school," Totten said.
"He wants to get you on the ground.
He wants to hit you, and he's athletic
enough to run sideline to sideline in
coverage. But his primary goal is to
attack the line of scrimmage and get
the back down.
"He's a throwback," he added.
"He's really a special kid, a tough
kid and a leader."
And that's exactly why Notre
Dame wanted Adams.
Pittsburgh Linebacker Is A
'Throwback' Player
Rivals rates Adams as a four-star recruit, the No. 5 player in Pennsylvania, and the No. 4 inside line-
backer and No. 100 overall prospect in the country.
