PREP PROFILES Notre Dame will be in it un- til the end for one of the nation's top safety prospects. Provo (Utah) Timpview four-star safety Chaz Ah You got his first look at Notre Dame the weekend of March 19 during the Irish's second Junior Day of the cycle, and while h e a r r i v e d o n campus without an offer from the I r i s h , i t d i d n ' t take long for that to change. A h Yo u m e t with Brian Kelly w h i l e o n c a m - pus, and the head coach delivered a scholarship of- fer after the two t a l k e d a b o u t what the school can do for the player after football. "I just want to get the best out of me both on and off the field," Ah You said, "and Notre Dame defi- nitely showed me that they can do that for their student-athletes." Ah You, who has family from Ha- waii, is distant cousins with former Irish star linebacker Manti Te'o. He said that he enjoyed everything about the visit, but the highlight was talking with Irish defensive backs coach Todd Lyght, who had a unique message. "He was just telling me that they want to add a bunch of size and length in the secondary," Ah You noted. "They said that they have been moving a couple of safeties to linebacker, and that I could end up playing anywhere just based on how much I grow." The 6-1, 185-pound Ah You likely won't transform into a linebacker until after he gets i n t o a c o l l e g e weight room, but he noted that it was important for him to hear from the Notre Dame coaches that they have a plan for him at the next l e v e l a n d w a n t him to be a part of the program. "I'm really impressed with Notre Dame," Ah You said. "I loved my unofficial. I got to kind of get a feel for that family spirit that everyone is talking about. "Coach Lyght is real easy to talk to, and I connected with him right away, which was real cool." Ah You also holds offers from Stanford, Oklahoma, BYU, Oregon, Missouri, UCLA, Duke and Utah. He doesn't have a timeline for a de- cision, but plans to return to South Bend for an official visit. "I'm just going to ride it out a little bit," he said. — Andrew Ivins Notre Dame Impresses Utah Safety CHAZ AH YOU ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Timpview Provo, Utah Status: Offered Class: 2017 Position: Safety Ht.: 6-1 • Wt.: 185 40-Yard Dash: 4.5 Rivals Rankings: No. 2 prospect in Utah, and No. 11 safety and No. 115 overall player in the country
