56 ■ THE WOLFPACKER while junior Ashley Williams became the starter at wing, enjoying her best season to date with 29 starts and averaging 6.1 points and 32.9 minutes a game after playing an average of 13 minutes as a sophomore. NC State finished non-conference play 9-4, then opened the ACC half of the slate at Miami on Dec. 30 with a 73-44 blowout loss. "We were doing a terrible job of taking care of the ball. We were probably one of the worst teams in the league in assist-to- turnovers and points allowed off turnovers," Moore said. "And we weren't rebounding well. I pulled those rankings and had a meet- ing with the team after Miami and said we couldn't do anything about what's behind us, but when we look at the ACC stats at the end of the season, I wanted to see us reverse that trend." The Pack finished its ACC season with the fewest turnovers in the conference (220) and tied for third in assist-to-turnover ratio (0.9, with 202 assists). "To go 10-5 from that point on, beat Duke at Duke and sweep UNC, I'm very proud of this team," Moore said.
