MAY 2016 ■ 67 ■ BASKETBALL RECRUITING 2.4 rebounds per game for Fenerbahce in the Euroleague. Yurtseven plays with four former NBA post players, including two former No. 6 overall picks in the NBA Draft — Jan Vesely (2011, Washington Wizards) and Ekpe Udoh (2010, Golden State Warriors). NC State head coach Mark Gottfried and assistant coach Orlando Early went to Turkey to meet with Yurtseven in March. Yurtseven has given every indication he would like to play college basketball rather than sign a pro contract next year. The Wolfpack went through a similar scenario last year with center Georgios Papagiannis of Greece, who ended up going the profes- sional route. Yurtseven showcased his potential against the Brooklyn Nets and Oklahoma City Thunder last October, and at the second annual Basketball Without Borders Camp Feb. 12-14 in Toronto during the weekend of the NBA All-Star Game. Yurtseven was part of 43 elite high school-aged basketball players who were born in foreign countries at Basketball Without Borders. Yurtseven knows former NC State point guard Engin Atsur, who is also from Turkey. Prep ranking: Unrated by Rivals.com, but DraftExpress.com has him slotted No. 13 in the 2017 NBA Draft. Colleges under consideration: NC State, Arizona, Arizona State, California, Kentucky, Miami, Missouri, North Caro- lina, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and USC. Class of 2016 Target Antwan Walker, 6-8, 210 pounds Small Forward, Washington (D.C.) Woodson High Walker is currently in the class of 2016, but could elect to spend a post-graduate year, so his future plans are in flux. Plus, he is young for his grade, turning 17 last November. Walker had a storybook senior year in leading Woodson High to a 33-0 record. He averaged about 16 points per game, was named the District of Columbia State Ath- letic Association Player of the Year for the second straight season and was selected to the Washington Post first-team All-Metro squad. NC State jumped in after he played with Team Loaded VA, April 15-17, in Dallas. The Washington (D.C.) Woodson High standout averaged 10.0 points per game in the adidas showcase event and earned a Wolfpack offer. Current NCSU rising sophomore small forward Shaun Kirk went through a similar situation a year ago with Team Loaded NC.
