The Irish were scheduled to travel to North Carolina May 21 for a chance to advance to the national semifinals. ✦ Irish Roundup ROWING The No. 15-ranked Irish placed fourth at the ACC Championships May 13-14 in Clemson, S.C. Notre Dame tallied 68 points, behind only champion Virginia (99), plus Duke (75) and Syracuse (75). The Irish had to wait until the 5 p.m. on May 17 to learn if they'd be making their fifth straight trip to the NCAA Championship May 27-29 at Lake Natoma in Sacramento, Calif. SOFTBALL (41-11, 13-7 ACC) The 20th-ranked Irish beat Virginia Tech 5-4 in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals May 12 and Lou- isville 4-2 in the semifinals May 13, but fell 7-3 to Florida State in the championship game May 14 at Raleigh, N.C. Notre Dame received a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and headed to the Ann Arbor Regional May 20-22 hosted by the No. 1 seed Michigan (the No. 2 national seed). Notre Dame was slated to face Miami (Ohio) in the opening game May 20. MEN'S TENNIS (15-14, 6-6 ACC) The 37th-ranked Irish fell 4-1 to No. 29 Stanford in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament May 14 in Evanston, Ill. Senior Quentin Monaghan will play in the NCAA Singles Championship and team up with senior Alex Lawson for the NCAA Doubles Championship May 25-30 in Tulsa, Okla. WOMEN'S TENNIS (14-14, 5-9 ACC) No. 43 Notre Dame fell 4-1 to 27th-ranked UCLA in the first round of the NCAA Tournament May 13 in Columbus, Ohio. Senior Quinn Gleason, however, qualified as an at-large entry for the NCAA Singles Championship May 25-30 in Tulsa, Okla. TRACK & FIELD The Notre Dame women placed fifth at the ACC Championships, highlighted by fifth-year senior sprinter Kaila Barber winning the 100- and 400-meter hurdles. The Irish competed without senior All- American Molly Seidel, who tweeted May 14 she was out with a sacral stress fracture. The Irish men finished 11th, highlighted by a fifth-place individual finish from Anthony Shivers in the men's discus (55.25 meters).
