and then we're going to expand his
role as he can handle it.
"There's no reason he can't be a
first‑down back, too. We just know
what we're going to attempt to do
with him on third down."
SHELDON DAY ROUNDS OUT
THE DRAFT CLASS
Defensive tackle Sheldon Day had
to bide his time until the third day of
the NFL Draft to hear his name called,
but he didn't have to wait long.
The Jacksonville Jaguars added
him to their defensive‑minded draft
with the No. 103 selection in the
fourth round.
The organization possessed an ex‑
plosive offense in 2015, but defense
was the clear target for improvement
this offseason. They drafted defensive
back Jalen Ramsey and linebacker
Myles Jack in the first two rounds and
added a versatile defensive lineman
in Day in the fourth round.
The Jaguars are expected to use
Day, at least at the beginning, as a sit‑
uational, third‑down pass rusher. ✦
Lineman Sheldon Day, who went in the fourth round at pick No. 103, was part of an impressive haul of
defensive players for the Jaguars.
