the defense, if you don't know what
you're doing and you're not working
at your craft each and every day, then
you will not perform.
"I want to be able to go into a game
and feel like I'm just
at practice — except
now we just have a
bunch of people [at
the game]. Last year
I was just so ner-
vous, I didn't really
understand the of-
fense that well and
I was just out there
playing.
"Now I'm in the film room, I'm
with the quarterbacks, I'm with the
tight ends, I'm with my coaches, re-
ally trying to understand what is go-
ing on behind me and in front of me.
I feel comfortable with where I'm at
right now."
When he watches the tapes from
last season, it's humbling.
"Just seeing all the mistakes I made
… I didn't take enough time, and I
don't think I took it
seriously last year,"
Jones said. "I don't
think I was ready for
it."
As for this spring
— "I really feel like
I'm back in high
school," Jones said.
"Even though the
tight end position has been predi-
cated on bigger guys … I want to be
that fast guy, that athletic guy where
I can play receiver if need be."
There is no ceiling, nor "boundar-
ies," on what Jones can achieve dur-
ing his collegiate career. ✦
"EVEN THOUGH THE TIGHT
END POSITION HAS BEEN
PREDICATED ON BIGGER
GUYS … I WANT TO BE THAT
FAST GUY, THAT ATHLETIC GUY
WHERE I CAN PLAY RECEIVER
IF NEED BE."
