Denbrock said. "The first couple of
days we put him on the boundary as
our W, he was a bit awkward there.
"I don't think he really felt com-
fortable; he was used to free-wheel-
ing it out to the field. Now that he's
done it for a couple of days, you can
tell he's wrapped his brain around
understanding some of the things
that we already addressed, like creat-
ing space for himself.
"He's getting more comfortable
there. I don't know if he'll end up
there, but it's good that he has to
play there this spring just for his own
development."
Kelly also shared some kind words
for St. Brown in February, speaking
with FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman and
admitting a bit of a revelation.
The sophomore was ranked as a
four-star prospect, the No. 23 player
in California, and the No. 15 wide
receiver and No. 144 overall player
in the country by Rivals in the 2015
class, but Kelly suggested St. Brown
has exceeded expectations.
"He's a surprise for us," Kelly told
Feldman. "We expected a good player,
there's no question. But we did not
expect what we got from him. He's
long, rangy, athletic, plays the ball ex-
tremely well in the air. He's tough. He
will be a top-notch player for us.
"We are really excited about EQ
and what he's going to be able to do
in our offense."
Squeezed in between Kelly's com-
pliments of St. Brown's skill set and
his ceiling as a player, there sits the
vital takeaway.
"He's tough."
Just like John Brown groomed him
to be. ✦
