Thri: and true freshmen Ellison Jordan and Antonio Shelton. At the one-tech- nique position, Cothren leads the way, with Thri:, Shelton and redshirt fresh- man Robert Windsor potentially in the mix. The issue here is not an absence of depth; it's an absence of Big Ten game experience. A similar situation exists at defensive end, with Garrett Sickels being the only returning starter and Torrence Brown and Evan Schwan being the only other defensive ends with game experience. There's plenty of individual talent but very little proven productivity. TAKEAWAY There's been a lot of up- heaval here since last season, but this unit could turn out to be a strength if ei- ther Chavis or Thri: emerges in presea- son practice at defensive tackle. With White, Givens, Cothren, Chavis, Thri: and Shelton competing for spots, the Li- ons could end up with a strong four- man rotation at tackle.
