Central Dauphin * As of May 26 Penn State makes progress in May Recruits from next three classes praise Nittany Lions after visit weekend P enn State's biggest recruiting weekend of May has come and gone. Although the Nittany Lions didn't receive any verbal commitments – none were neces- sarily expected – the coaches and their support sta: le< a positive impression on nearly every recruit in attendance. On May 21, PSU hosted about two dozen visitors from the classes of 2017, '18 and '19. O:ers were extended, relationships were strengthened and the wheels for re- turn visits were set in motion. Eventually the groundwork will likely lead to more moments like the one that took place on April 24 when three-star cornerback D.J. Brown announced for the Nittany Lions. A 5-foot-10, 165-pound prospect from Fairburn, Ga., Brown took his 9rst uno;cial visit to Penn State during Blue-White weekend and came away im- pressed. "One of the main things that I loved about Penn State was the coaching sta: and just the genuine vibe I got from them," he said. "When I went up there to visit, I developed a really good relationship with all the coaches there. They're just great people. They really made me feel like I'm supposed to be there. "Also, I'd say that the feeling I got around the town was amazing. I love the feeling there. The atmosphere around the town, it just feels like college." Before he committed, Brown had earned nearly two dozen scholarship o:ers. Some of the top schools that pursued him were California, Kansas State, Louisville, Mis- sissippi State, Northwestern, UCLA and Wisconsin. With his commitment, Brown became the eighth member of Penn State's Class of 2017. That class is going to continue to expand, and it could eventually include some of the players who were on campus in May. Here's a recap of the Lions' most recent visit weekend: CLASS OF 2017 MATT DOTSON The lead story of the weekend was Dotson, a tight end from Moeller High in Cincinnati. When he le< for University Park, his early leaders were Michigan and Michigan State. But by the time he le<, the Nittany Lions had leapt to the top of the list, and he was ready to tell everyone about it. "That was the 9rst time I've been [there] and I de9nitely would say they are at the top right now a
