OTHER NEWS There is some concern as to whether Penn State will have a third quarterback ready for the season. Janu- ary enrollee Jake Zembiec missed a lot of reps this spring due to a shoulder prob- lem that predated his arrival in Universi- ty Park. It's possible that Zembiec will need minor surgery, but he's expected to be ready for preseason practice. TAKEAWAY McSorley and Stevens are the right type of quarterbacks to run Moorhead's o9ense. The team's informal workout sessions this summer should help determine whether Penn State will be three-deep at QB heading into pre- season practice. RUNNING BACK SPRING STORYLINE The big news here was Barkley's superb performance, which began in the weight room over the winter and carried over into spring prac- tice. He posted a 4.38-second 40-yard time, power cleaned 390 pounds and es- tablished himself as perhaps the top running back in the Big Ten this fall. "All those physical attributes are im- pressive about Saquon," said Dwight Galt, Penn State's strength and condi- tioning coach. "But what really makes him special is that he's a great leader, and he really epitomizes what Penn State football is all about."
