MADISON CYR LACROSSE A senior from Westminster, Md., Cyr headlined Penn State's run to the NCAA semifinals, leading the Nittany Lions in goals (57), points (80) and shots (128) through their first 20 games. She scored in every game of the reg- ular season, claiming first-team All-Big Ten recognition while also receiving a nom- ination for the Tewaaraton Award, which goes to the nation's top player. BRITT ECKERSTROM SOCCER How dominant was the veteran goalkeeper dur- ing Penn State's sprint to the NCAA title? Consider this: The Nittany Lions didn't al- low a single goal in the final 733 minutes, 32 seconds of the season. Eckerstrom was in net for 714 of those minutes. The senior from Germantown, Md., wrapped up her career by posting shutouts in 15 of her 27 starts, including eight in a row to end the season. RACHEL FATHERLY TRACK & FIELD Fa- therly, a senior from Williamsport, Pa., broke the school record in the shot put with a throw of 56 feet, 8 inches and went on to finish seventh at NCAAs to claim first- team All-America honors. During the out- door season, she won the shot put and the hammer throw at the Pepsi Invitational at Oregon's historic Hayward Field. JESSIE RADANOVICH FENCING A junior from Tollhouse, Calif., Radanovich won the epee competition at the NCAA champi- onships in March, defeating Princeton's Charlene Liu in the final, 15-10. "It feels unbelievably amazing," she said following her victory. "I can barely even believe it happened." HALEIGH WASHINGTON VOLLEYBALL The middle blocker from Colorado Springs, Colo., enjoyed a strong sophomore season, finishing third in the country in hitting per- centage (.442) to claim All-Big Ten and first-team All-America honors. She led Penn State's blocking unit with an average of 1.38 per set. Her 11 blocks against St. John's were the second-highest total in school his- tory for a three-set match. – M.H.
