14 ■ THE WOLVERINE 2016 FOOTBALL PREVIEW MICHIGAN FOOTBALL Irish Maintains All-Time Win Percentage Lead On Wolverines Michigan entered the 2015 season trailing Notre Dame in all- time winning percentage by .00229, and the Wolverines remain within striking distance after both they and the Irish went 10-3 in 2015. Michigan still maintains a comfortable lead in all-time victories with 925, leading Notre Dame (892) and Texas (886). Meanwhile, only eight schools now boast a win percentage of .700 or higher. Georgia Southern and Appalachian State made the full transition from the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) to the Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) in 2014 and earned most of their wins in the former. The margin had been .0171. Michigan still leads the Big Ten in all-time victories with 491, but Ohio State is closing in, now only three back. No other team has hit the 400-win mark. Nebraska ranks third in winning percentage with a mark of .6250, down from nearly .6900 last year, while Penn State is fourth at .6087 and Michigan State is fifth at .5626. Maryland plummeted from sixth to 12th after its two years in the league follow - ing last season's 1-7 conference mark, while two-year member Rutgers is now at the bottom after a similar finish last year.
