C State might have been forced to
scramble in forming next year's
roster, but head coach Mark Gott-
fried likes the end result.
Gottfried had always planned ahead to
replace junior point guard Anthony Barber,
though he did hold out some hope toward
the end of last season that he might return.
Barber, however, turned professional and
signed with an agent, opening the point
guard spot for Rivals.com five-star redshirt
freshman Dennis Smith.
Gottfried did not anticipate losing
sophomore wings Caleb and Cody Martin,
who both transferred to Nevada, but the
Wolfpack have responded well in spring
recruiting.
NCSU signed post players Omer
Yurtseven and Darius Hicks in mid-May,
point guard Markell Johnson on June 20
and power forward Ted Kapita on June 24.
