who are running spread-style offenses and are using mobile quarterbacks, how many start with the same quarterback in the beginning of the year that they end with? Don't get me wrong, we want to, but the reality is in major college football you need multiple quarterbacks that you feel like you can win with. You want to be able to have the same guy play all year long, but I think you have to play and prepare as if you're not going to have a guy for the entire year. BWI And you have confidence in both of those guys? FRANKLIN I think obviously Tommy is a version of Trace from one or two years ago. There's a lot of excitement about him in the program from our players and coaches, and he does some really nice things. And there are still some areas where he's got to improve from a consis- tency standpoint. But yeah, I do. They are two guys who we're excited about. Jake Zembiec is another guy obviously in recruiting who we were excited about, but we haven't really seen a whole lot from him. He came in with a little bit of an injury and it has taken a little bit longer to get that thing right. BWI Is the development of the backup running backs one of the more impor- tant stories for the program offensively? FRANKLIN I don't know if I would necessarily say the development, al- though that's a part of it. I think what really stands out is that it's a pretty deep unit. Mark Allen had a great spring. An- dre Robinson really made significant strides this spring. So you've got a deep unit of guys who are really competitive, really have close relationships, but really work hard. And everybody realizes there are only so many carries to go around, so they're fighting like hell and that's really what you want at every position.
