UNDER THE DOME After enduring several concussions in the past couple of seasons and early in spring practice this March, senior wide receiver Corey Robinson an- nounced June 15 he will no longer con- tinue his football career in 2016. Following his episode this spring that sidelined him, Robinson saw a head trauma specialist in April and made the decision with his family to no longer play the game, although he will serve as a student assistant on the team. Said Robinson in a released state- ment: "After much contemplation and prayer, I have decided not to continue playing football due to multiple con- cussions. I couldn't have come to this difficult personal decision without the incredible support from so many within the Notre Dame football pro- gram. "I am extremely thankful to Coach [Brian] Kelly and his staff for the life- changing opportunity to play football at the greatest university in the world. I will continue to help our team as a student assistant and look forward to a great senior year." "This was an extremely tough deci- sion for Corey," Kelly said in a state- ment. "He's such a committed kid to everything he does — whether it be academics, football, community ser- vice or campus leadership initiatives — that he wanted to finish his four- year career on the field. He was so excited to lead a group of young re- ceivers this fall." Kelly added that Robinson sets a "remarkable example for all our play- ers." In February, Robinson was elected student body president by his peers.
