Fisher, the Houston Astros' No. 9 minor league prospect per MLB.com, hit .323 in May en route to earning a trip to the 2016 Texas League All-Star Game. "It didn't really start the way I wanted it to, but just like anything else you're going to have some learning curves. I can't really complain with how it's been going," said Fisher, who was batting .250 with 15 home runs, 54 RBI and 22 stolen bases through July 28. "I think I can do a little bit better, but it also could be a lot worse. "I definitely learned a lot to this point, and how much better I've become since just the beginning is something I can be pretty proud of." More important than becoming an All-Star, he has contributed to a Corpus Christi team that won the first half title in the Texas League's South Division. Regardless of what transpires in the second half, he and his fellow Hooks are in the playoffs come September. "Playing at Virginia, winning was the only option," Fisher said. "What's pretty remarkable about the Astros' organization and what I've been pretty thankful for the short time I've been a part of it is we win. "Our teams are good, and it's pretty cool because you get to play with the same guys through the entire orga- nization." Fisher is appreciative of all he learned during his time in Charlottesville. "I think the biggest things are the way that it's prepared me for life, the way it's prepared me for the game of base- ball, the adversity and just to give me the right mindset," Fisher said. "We won games, and we worked hard. "With the Astros, we do work very hard, and we do win a lot of games. They're very similar in those two aspects." — Stephen Hunt ◆ Photo courtesy Corpus Christi Hooks
