66 ■ THE WOLFPACKER ■ FOOTBALL RECRUITING RUNNING BACK ZAMIR WHITE Laurinburg (N.C.) Scotland High White is a five-star running back pros- pect, according to Rivals.com, and he has already generated buzz as potentially the best tailback to come of the state. Ri- vals.com regional analyst Adam Friedman recently posed that question to Rivals' longtime national analyst Mike Farrell, who said White is chasing former Tarboro High and Georgia legend now NFL star Todd Gurley. "Gurley is the standard, to me, in the state of North Carolina," Farrell said. "Peo- ple will say, 'White's a five-star and Gurley wasn't. He's one of your top five players in the class and Gurley wasn't. This guy has to be better than Gurley.' "I'd say, at the same stage, White is a little bit ahead of Gurley, but for him to maintain and be better than Gurley is going to take some really special ability. "I think he'll probably end up being ranked higher than Gurley, but that's more a reflection of how we didn't push Gurley up high enough." The 6-0, 205-pound White has been timed as fast as 10.58 seconds in the 100-meter dash. He ran 260 times for 2,159 yards and 41 touchdowns as a sophomore. White has been a frequent visitor to NC State and camped in Raleigh over the summer.
