O T H E R M A T C H U P S THE LOWDOWNThe slight edge here goes to Penn State. Both the Owls and Nittany Lions have excellent punt re- turners. Chandler averages 16.8 yards for Temple, while Reid has given Penn State's return game a jolt of energy, averaging 10.4 yards through two games with a 59-yard gallop last week that helped the Nittany Lions rally back against Pitt. Temple junior Alex Starzyk averages 42.2 yards per punt. Penn State true freshman Blake Gillikin has been tremendous in his first two college games, averaging 46.8 yards on 11 punts. Temple junior PK Austin Jones and his Penn State counterpart, redshirt junior Tyler Davis, are both 3 for 3 on field goal attempts this season. // EDGEPenn State SPECIAL TEAMS THE LOWDOWN The Nittany Lions should be well-motivated on Saturday. A year ago, the Owls dealt Penn State one of its more embarrassing defeats, coasting to a 27-10 victory with a dominating defensive effort that included 10 sacks. It was the Owls' first victory over the Nittany Lions since 1941. In addition, the Lions will want to get back on the winning track a=er last week's heartbreaking finish at Pitt. // EDGEPenn State THIS 'N' THAT THE LOWDOWN This is Temple's fourth season under Matt Rhule, a former Penn State player and State College na- tive. He has posted a record of 18-20, including a 10-4 finish last year. Penn State is 15-13 in three seasons under James Franklin. This should be a revenge game for the Nittany Lions given last year's result. Losing to Pitt last week makes this week's game a must-win situation for the Lions. // EDGEEven COACHING STAFF S E P T E M B E R 1 4 , 2 0 1 6 B L U E W H I T E O N L I N E . Sophomore CB John Reid has nine tackles and one fumble re- covery. Redshirt sophomore CB Amani Oruwariye and senior SS Malik Golden both have interceptions. Oruwariye returned his interception 30 yards for a touchdown. // KEY MATCHUP Reid will try to shut down Kirk- wood, while Golden will be matched up against Thompson.
