Penn State is off to an excellent start with offensive tackle Rasheed Walker of Waldorf, Md. A 6-foot-5, 290-pound four-star prospect from North Point High School, Walker is set to be one of the region's most coveted offensive linemen in the Class of 2018, holding early offers from Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio State, Pitt, Penn State and Rutgers. He's also a member of the Rivals250, rated No. 237 overall, and the 21st-ranked offensive tackle for next year's cycle. "I talk to Penn State a lot. They're one of a couple schools I probably talk to the most," Walker said. "I've been talking to Coach [Charles] Huff and Coach [Matt] Limegrover, but it's mainly been Coach Huff. We [direct message] each other, and I call them on the phone whenever I get a chance. When I call them, I usually talk to Coach [James] Franklin, Coach Huff and Coach Limegrover. I like all of their coaches. They seem very interested in me." Walker's contact with the Nittany Lion staff has become much more consistent since September, but he originally started reaching out to Huff this past spring and into the summer. Those early talks even- tually convinced him to take his first visit to University Park in July for the Lasch Bash barbecue. "I loved it. I had a real good time," Walker said. "It was real family-oriented there. Everyone was real cool. I got to see their facilities and a lot of other stuff. Every- thing was put together real nice. I thought their stadium was amazing. It's so big. "I also learned about their academics. They showed us where everyone studies. It's really nice. The whole place was just real nice, and the coaches were cool. I had a lot of fun with them and all the other recruits." As for the competition, Walker said that Penn State is one of a few schools that he's been regularly speaking with since the start of September, which was the start of the period in which assistant coaches are allowed to contact high school juniors via social media and text message. "I've been in touch with Rutgers, Ohio State and Penn State a good amount," he said. "I've also been getting a lot of hand- written letters from Pitt. Wake Forest also shows a lot of love. Those are the schools I talk to the most. I've been able to visit Penn State, Rutgers, Ohio State and Mary- land so far. They all had different things that I like." So, when is Walker planning to return to Happy Valley? "I've been trying to get up there for a while now," he said. "I was trying to go to Pitt to see that game, but I also wanted to go to [Penn State's] home game against Temple. My dad works on Saturday, so I usually need my coach to take me places. He was busy those days, but I am hoping to get to Penn State before the season ends. "Other than Penn State, I want to get out and see North Carolina and Florida, but nothing is set up right now. I just have to see when I can get a ride, and then hope- fully I'll be able to see some schools." PENN STATE RADIO NETWORK WAEB............. 790-AM.......
