hen Joe Moorhead was named
Penn State's new o=ensive coordi-
nator last December, fans quickly
grew excited about his philosophy.
Described by some as an RPO (run-pass
option) system, Moorhead's o=ense com-
bined West Coast passing concepts with a
zone-based power running game and a
no-huddle approach. The idea wasn't to
build up a diverse portfolio of plays but
instead to become pro;cient at a small
collection of concepts that were ciency with a 137.8
rating and was fourth in total o=ense
with an average of 270.3 yards per game.
