32 ■ THE WOLFPACKER championships," Yow said, alluding to the 1977 and 1983 men's basketball and 1979 and 1980 women's cross country titles. Lipitz also pointed out that the teams using Reynolds would benefit greatly from the renovation "We talk about pretty openly about being a top-25 program, top to bottom," Lipitz said. "You can't do that without a first-rate facility. For these programs that compete in this building, we are there now." To some, the most important change to Reynolds Coliseum was the air condition- ing system. NC State is now in position to host concerts and other shows in the future. The wiring and plumbing "behind the walls" is up to date, and the sound and lighting systems were improved. "Graduations will return to Reynolds," Lipitz said. "It is a great new venue. With a campus the size of NC State, we needed that. I think students are excited about bringing shows and acts back to campus." Yow is excited about how much the vari- ous Wolfpack sports programs will be im- pacted, now and well into the future. "We have already seen an uptick in at- tendance for volleyball, and we sold out for Primetime With The Pack in Reynolds [Oct. 21]," Yow said. "Recruiting will be helped for the four sports continuing to compete in the facility as well." Yow hopes Reynolds Coliseum can now last for another half century as an important part of the campus and the city.
