MICHIGAN RECRUITING Recruits Ready To Barbecue At The Big House A and most of Michigan's commit- ments from the 2013 class plan to be in attendance. With limited space remaining in the class, only a small group of uncommitted rising seniors will attend, highlighted by Phoenix Brophy Prep wide receiver Devon Allen and Richmond (Va.) Hermit- age running back Derrick Green. The Wolverines' coaching staff is likely angling to bring in Crete (Ill.) Monee wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, too. The bigger impact of the event will be on Michigan's class of 2014. Some top rising juniors will be in atten- dance, highlighted by St. Clairsville (Ohio) linebacker Michael Ferns. Michigan's annual "Bar- becue at The Big House" recruiting event will enter its second year with new host Brady Hoke. The cookout takes place July 29, lthough many memories of the 2008-10 era of Michigan football planning to attend include Tarpon Springs (Fla.) East Lake teammates Mason Cole and Artavis Scott. Cole, a 6-5, 270-pound offensive lineman, already holds an offer from Michi- gan, and the 5-11, 180-pound wide- out Scott is hoping to pick one up as well. The East Lake program is a consistently talented one, and the Wolverines would do well to land anyone from the program. Plainfield (Ill.) A large con- tingent of Southeast Michigan play- ers — rising seniors and juniors alike — could also make the short trip to Ann Arbor. Although Morris has earned much praise for his ability to make other recruits see the benefits of commit- ting to Michigan, he is unavailable the weekend of the barbecue. Instead of wearing his recruiting cap in Ann Arbor, he plans to participate in the Gridiron Kings seven-on-seven tour- nament in Orlando, Fla. Pickerington, Ohio (Pickerington North) Pickerington, Ohio (Central) has continued to receive interest from other colleges despite a com- mitment to Michigan. Detroit Cass Tech offensive lineman David Daw- son has picked up offers from the likes of Florida, LSU and Vanderbilt since his Feb. 18 commitment to the Wolverines, and coaches from sev- eral schools (including those three and reigning national champion Alabama, which offered prior to his Michigan commitment) have made stops at Cass Tech this offseason. Much to the chagrin of Michigan One player more than any other DAWSON WOOED, BUT STAYS TRUE TO BLUE Harper Woods, Mich. That issue came to a head when Dawson planned to attend Florida's Friday Night Lights camp July 27. Michigan's coaching staff has es-
