www.BLUEANDGOLD.com NOV. 21, 2016 47 FOOTBALL RECRUITING ROUNDUP Recruiting Notes • Notre Dame lost one of its top defensive line commits Oct. 18 when Beaver Falls (Pa.) High Rivals four-star 2017 defensive end Donovan Jeter opened up his recruitment. However, the Irish could be on the verge of add- ing a talented player in his place. Good Counsel (Md.) Olney 2017 strongside defensive end Joshua Paschal has set his official visit date to South Bend for Dec. 9-11, the weekend of Notre Dame's annual Echoes Awards Show. Rivals ranks the 6-4, 255-pound Paschal as a four-star talent, and the No. 8 strongside defensive end and No. 232 overall player nationally. • Several new offers to the 2018 class went out in early November, including one to Houston Lamar standout Anthony Cook, the No. 3 cornerback and No. 14 over- all player in the country according to Rivals. His impressive offer list also includes Alabama, Michigan, Clemson, LSU, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Florida State. The 6-1, 170-pound Cook told Blue & Gold Illustrated the Notre Dame offer was one he was wanting, especially with his admiration of defensive backs coach Todd Lyght. Jacksonville (Fla.) Providence School four-star wide receiver Will Mallory was the recipient of an Irish offer Nov. 6. The 6-5, 210-pound wide receiver is ranked as a four-star recruit, and the No. 47 wide receiver and No. 240 over- all player in the junior class. His offer list also includes Alabama, Michigan, Miami (Fla.) and Wisconsin. • Notre Dame hosted Trussville (Ala.) Hewitt-Trussville three-star wide receiver Noah Igbinoghene for the Miami game Oct. 29 on an official visit. While he enjoyed his time in South Bend, the senior took an unofficial visit to in-state Au- burn Nov. 5 for its game against Vanderbilt and received an offer from the Tigers. Igbinoghene had Notre Dame in his top two with Duke and told Blue & Gold Illustrated committing during his Irish visit crossed his mind. However, he told AuburnSports.com, that the in-state offer is very attrac- tive, given the proximity of Auburn to his Trussville home, which would allow his family to see him play more often. The Tigers are likely now the team to beat for Igbinoghene. — Corey Bodden and David McKinney • LB David Adams: Pittsburgh Central Catholic (10-1) registered its third shutout of the season with a 48-0 win over North Huntingdon (Pa.)
