12 THE WOLVERINE DECEMBER 2016   INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS 3 Big Ten cross country titles won by senior Erin Finn, who be- came the first woman to earn a trio of crowns since the race moved up to 6,000 meters in 2005 and just the third ever to win the league race three times. She helped the Wolverines win the team title for the first time since 2012 and has led U-M in 20 consecutive races after winning the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. Michigan also won the regional title. 5 Is where The Big House was listed in SI.com's ranking of the top 25 field designs in college football. "The block M is the best letter logo in college sports," the website wrote. "The classic maize script in each end zone pops off the field and creates a very crisp, clean look." 8 Wolverines were included in the midseason mock draft done by Bleacher Report's Matt Miller Nov. 2. Redshirt sophomore linebacker Jabrill Peppers (No. 4) and senior cornerback Jourdan Lewis (No. 24) were first-round picks, while senior tight end Jake Butt (No. 43) and fifth-year senior offensive lineman Erik Magnuson (No. 60) were second-round se- lections. Projected to be tabbed in the third round were: senior defensive lineman Taco Charlton (No. 83), fifth-year senior wideouts Jehu Chesson (No. 90) and Amara Darboh (No. 96), and fifth-year senior defensive lineman Chris Wormley (No. 93). U-M hasn't had more than three draftees since 2008, when it had its second straight seven-man class. Jim Harbaugh has predicted the Wolverines will have double- digit draftees in 2016 for the first time since 1972 (10), when the event lasted 17 rounds. 25 Is where junior guard Katelynn Flaherty ranked on ESPN.com's countdown of the top women's bas- ketball players in the country. Writer Graham Hays noted only two returning players averaged more than Flaherty's 22.1 points per game last year. "Given the frequency and accuracy with which she shoots from the three-point line, her overall efficiency in turning shots into points ranks among the best in the country," he wrote. "There is a reason folks in Ann Arbor, Michigan, mention Steph Curry when describing how she goes about her work." 165 Receiving yards for Darboh against Michigan State Oct. 29, which set a new career high and marks the second most ever for a Wolverine against the Spartans (trailing only Bray- lon Edwards' 189-yard performance in 2004). 191 U-M wins have been coached by John Beilein two games into the 2016-17 sea- son. He needs just 18 to tie Johnny Orr for the all-time school record (209) and opens the year just 16 shy of reaching 500 for his career on the Division I level. 292 Passing yards in the first half against Maryland Nov. 5 by redshirt sophomore q u a r t e r b a c k W i l t o n Speight, breaking De- nard Robinson's record of 262 set in 2010 against Illinois. Spei- ght finished with a career-best 362 yards through the air. By The NUMBERS 1,560 Career receiving yards on 130 catches for senior JAKE BUTT through the first 10 games of the 2016 season, giving him the most ever in both catego- ries for a U-M tight end. His 38 grabs in 2016 have gained 460 yards and four touchdowns. PHOTO BY PER KJELDSEN
