SECOND WIND
Yet another second-half surge fuels Lions' win over Rutgers
Penn State missed a few opportunities Saturday
night at Rutgers, but it didn't squander its biggest
opportunity: a chance to stay in contention for the
Big Ten championship.
On a wet, windy night in Piscataway, N.J., the
ninth-ranked Nittany Lions held onto their spot in
the East Division title chase with a 39-0 romp over
the Scarlet Knights. Penn State had some red zone
difficulties in the first half, but as has become its
custom, it dominated the second half, outscoring
the last-place Knights 30-0 a?er the break to run
its record to 9-2 and 7-1 in the Big Ten.
"I don't really want to go into the locker room
saying, 'We're a second-half team.' But at times
like this, it's nice to go in there and say, 'We're a
second-half team,'" coach James Franklin said.
