THEY SAID IT
"College basketball is back. I'm ready to
start playing. Sounds beautiful. We used
to play four games a day in AAU. This is
nothing."
Sophomore men's basketball
guard Rex Pflueger on playing
four games in seven days
"It's less and less because we don't have as many
seniors that have used up their eligibility. I'm cry-
ing right now because I don't have Will Fuller. He
didn't have a Senior Day. Jaylon Smith, Ronnie
Stanley, KeiVarae Russell, is that enough? Those
guys, they're all juniors, and they really didn't have
a true Senior Day." — Head football coach Brian
Kelly when asked about Senior Day
"I think this season has taught me that. You don't
respect and appreciate the ups when you don't go
through the downs, and I think that this season
has really proved to me that in order to achieve
greatness, you have to see what it's like to be on
the other side of it. Last year, I was thrown into a
fire and came out pretty successful. And my whole
career up until that point was me being a top
athlete in a leading position and being successful.
"And this year has been the first year where I
didn't have the start that I really wanted to have,
and I really had to experience what it was like to
be a losing quarterback." — Junior quarterback
DeShone Kizer on if he feels one needs to fail and
face adversity in order to succeed
OF THE WEEK
"A warrior 's heart never hesitates, no
matter the circumstance, no matter the
opponent."
