THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON
Nittany Lions top Badgers for Big Ten crown, earn bid to Rose Bowl
Blessed with a seemingly inexhaustible
supply of second-half magic, Penn State
pulled off yet another comeback on Sat-
urday night, rallying for a 38-31 victory
over Wisconsin in the Big Ten Champi-
onship Game in Indianapolis.
The Nittany Lions had the Badgers on
their heels from their first offensive play
of the second half, thanks to a go-for-
broke passing attack that was as potent
as it's been all season. The receivers had
a spellbinding night, catching nearly
everything that came their way, but no-
body pulled more rabbits out of more
hats than quarterback Trace McSorley.
The redshirt sophomore threw for 384
yards, the most in a league championship
game, averaging 17.5 yards on his 22 com-
pletions (in 31 attempts).
All of this a?er a first half that was de-
cidedly less than magical, one that
prompted coach James Franklin to note,
"We didn't start out good, I think, on ei-
ther front."
