Seniors Niall Fitzgerald and Casey Watt lost their open- ing-round match against the fourth-ranked duo in the country, from Stanford. Sopho- more Greg Andrews (26-5 on the year) also lost in the first round. 68 points (▼ 5) GOLF in 2012 after finishing 22nd in the country a year ago, but the men's side picked up the slack by contributing 40 points to the school's Directors' Cup score. Senior Max Scodro fin- ished seventh overall in the tournament with a five-under 208. Scodro ended his ca- reer as an All-American with the third-best stroke average (73.99) in program history. The women's team placed 15th at the Cen- son on Memorial Day weekend with a 15th- place finish at the 16-team NCAA Champi- onships. Notre Dame's varsity four finished second in the petite finals, less than two seconds behind the champions from UCLA. Sophomore Molly Bruggeman became the first Notre Dame rower to be a first-team All-American since Amanda Polk in 2008. She was the lone Big East representative on the list. This summer, Bruggeman is rowing with the U-23 National Team at the World Championships. Polk, meanwhile, is an al- ternate on the U.S. Olympic team in Lon- don.
