He's the seventh-ranked defensive tackle and the second-ranked player in New Jersey for 2017. DONOVAN JOHNSON Cass Tech (Mich.) :nished the year undefeated, going 14-0 to win the MHSAA Division I championship. Following the season, Johnson earned All-City and All-State honors from the Detroit Free Press, and he also recently participated in the U.S. Army All-American Game. Johnson is a four-star prospect and a member of the Rivals250, coming in at No. 207 overall. He's the 17th-ranked cornerback nation- ally and the third-ranked player in Michi- gan. YETUR MATOS Matos led Chancellor (Va.) to an 8-2 regular season. The Charg- ers won their :rst playo; game but were knocked out of the VHSL Group 4A play- o;s in the second round. Matos :nished with 130 tackles, including 21 tackles for loss and 18.5 sacks. His sack total was the highest in school history, and he also holds Chancellor's record for career sacks with 37. Following the season, Matos was named Co-Player of the Year and Defen- sive Player of the Year in his conference. He also earned All-Conference, All-Re- gion and All-State honors from multiple publications. A four-star prospect, Matos is a member of the Rivals250, coming in at No. 128 overall. He's the nation's sixth- ranked strongside defensive end accord- ing to Rivals and the fourth-ranked player in Virginia. DYLAN RIVERS Sherando (Va.) fin- ished its regular season with a 5-5 record and didn't qualify for the VHSL play- offs. Rivers was named the Defensive Player of the Year for his conference, while the Winchester Star also named him the Defensive Player of the Year for the entire region. He earned All-Area, All-Region and All-State honors and was upgraded to a four-star prospect by Rivals following his senior season. Rivers is the 14th-ranked inside line- backer nationally and the 14th-ranked player in Virginia. JONATHAN SUTHERLAND Sutherland led Episcopal (Va.) to an 8-1 record and was named to the VISAA All-Division I team. A four-star prospect according to Rivals, Sutherland is the 27th-ranked safety and the 13th-ranked player in Virginia. LAMONT WADE Clairton (Pa.) won 14 consecutive games before falling to Bishop Guilfoyle in the PIAA Class A championship. Throughout the regular season and playo;s, Wade totaled 2,368 yards rushing, averaging more than 13 yards per carry. He also scored 32 touch- downs. Those numbers, coupled with his strong play on defense, helped Wade claim Gatorade Player of the Year honors in Pennsylvania. He was also a member of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Fabulous 22 team, as well as a :rst-team All-State selection by the Pennsylvania Football Writers. A :ve-star prospect, Wade is a member of the Rivals100, coming in at No. 9 overall in the country. He's the No. 1 player in Pennsylvania and the top- ranked cornerback nationally. ■
