After another
stellar bowl,
Godwin opts
for NFL
There were times during the Rose
Bowl when Chris Godwin seemed to be
using telekinesis to catch passes. At one
point in the second quarter, after ap-
pearing to over-run a throw from Trace
McSorley on a crossing pattern, Godwin
extended his left arm behind him and
somehow managed to deflect the ball
onto his thigh, trapping it there as he
tumbled to the turf. An almost super-
natural moment, the catch produced a
10-yard gain and a drive-extending first
down.

with nine catches for 187 yards and two
touchdowns, both of which were as as-
tonishing as his one-handed reception

sive a game as any wide receiver in Penn
State history has ever played, and cou-

sembled during his two seasons as a
full-time starter, it left him with little to
prove at the college level. So it was no
surprise when Godwin announced three
days after the game that he was planning
to forgo his senior season to enter the
NFL Draft.
